Room of the Week - A Bright Idea

For the past few weeks I have been knee deep picking paint colors for clients, and am always drawn to rooms that take a risk.  This room really caught my eye, and I think I fell in love with its simplicity...tall ceilings with gorgeous molding, all white walls, and just a touch of well placed paint.

I am also huge fan of all white bedding (with the option to switch around the accent pillows), and the only change I would make would be to add a piece of art (or two!).  The molding above the bed makes an instant frame and gives the illusion of a headboard.  I too am considering a little painting of my own (in the bedroom), and am still searching for the perfect color mint...something that reminds me of a cool sorbet but is still warm and fresh. Like any of these?  Suggestions most welcome...

Happy Monday!

Room of the Week - Creamsicle Delight

With the change of the seasons, comes the feeling to shake things up a bit, and to me that means moving the furniture around!  My mother will chuckle when she reads this, as I come by this (somewhat) impulsive behavior honestly.  An Army brat (moving more times than I have fingers by the time I graduated from high school), and the daughter of an uber creative mother...one who taught me to embrace change with every new place and every new home.  So, what is the best way to change things up in your interiors you ask?

Paint, paint and a little more paint!  With that in mind, this "looks-good-enough-to-eat" living room is the perfect example of making a statement with color, and a simple coat (or two) of paint.  Of course, having the guts to paint everything in high gloss coral is a risk, but in this case (I think) it definitely paid off.  In addition to this delicious color, I am always a fan of a one cushion sofa, the lines of those mid century chairs (so good), one perfect pendant light, simple shades, and well stylized accessories.  Are you brave enough to take a risk like this with color?  I feel a weekend project brewing...what colors on on your project list?

Kelly (Green) Inspired - Room of the Week

With St. Patrick's Day now just two short days away, I couldn't help but be inspired by a little Kelly green! While I usually prefer slightly more detailed design (layered with color and pattern), something about the simplicity of this room really struck me.  I love the gray walls and trim, (painting them both the same color makes the room appear larger), oversized chandelier and dining table.  The drapes are hung high (also elongating the space, and opening up the view), and the simple sculpture above the mantle is perfectly placed.

Add in a few linen upholstered chairs (with nailhead trim), and the palette is both soothing and dramatic all at once.  Would you be bold enough to anchor your space with drapes like these?  I know I would.  (Oh, and I think I'd add a natural fiber rug too...something with texture.)  Now, we're dinner party ready...green beer in hand.

Cheers!
